mauve infohub
Chosen from a design competition, this build considers the infohub (official Linden Lab kiosks and public space sites distributed across the Second Life grid) as an eye-catching icon that literally draws its structural framework from the in-game map circular ‘i’ symbol. This iconic nature will allow it to be architecturally distinct from surrounding builds, and enable residents to clearly associate the build as the place to go for official news and content. While providing opportunities for a variety of content to be delivered, the proposed build also creates a plaza around the infohub platform as an area for resident gathering, events and conversation. In addition to the pragmatic goal of providing an inviting and functional space, the design is also intended to resonate between the reality of architecture and abstraction of graphic design such that it underscores the ephemeral character of information and the paradoxical nature of ‘information architecture’.
